Hiroshima (from lovegeek)
We went to Hiroshima yesterday. It was amazing. The Peace Park and The Museum combined with a cool local atmosphere made me want to move there. Very soon.
The entire place is haunted by the bomb, but there is a feeling of renewal and progress instead of blame and guilt. The city is leading the Anti-Arms Movement and The Hiroshima Mayors’ letters to every country that condones, builds or tests Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs are on permanent display at The Museum. The amazing Peace Blvd. was a vibrant green in spring, and a display of the natural environments ability to renew as well. (After the bomb hit, the people of Hiroshima believed the trees would not bloom for 75 years.)
During my visit to The Peace Museum there were tourists from Germany, America, Brazil, Australia, and naturally, Japanese locals. The shared responsibility of such a magnanimous event really hit me, as we all tried to find some humanity in something that was essentially, anti-human.
